Poem By Nate
I hear the screech of a diesel van,
Outside I can smell that evil man,
He walks towards our broken door,
I still can’t move off this filthy floor,
His white coat shimmers a fateful sign,
Of things to come, he’s no doctor of mine,
He is here to capture my swirling mind,
In his net and put that jacket on from behind,
The one that fastens, buckled at the back,
Giving myself that hug I so lack.
I’m breaking down in front of his eyes,
I feel like a horse plagued by flies,
I will return though ever stronger,
I can’t live in fear of myself much longer,
I play tricks on myself with contemplation,
The only thing I know is procrastination,
If I ever make it out of here alive,
I will have to fly from my safe little hive,
Live my life for the very first time,
“Tequila”, I’ll say, “and a slice of lime.”
